Résumé :

En 1740, la frégate britannique HMS Wager est envoyée en mission sous le commandement du commodore Anson afin de piller la cargaison d'un galion espagnol. Le navire fait naufrage après avoir franchi le cap Horn. Les survivants trouvent refuge sur une île de Patagonie, où trois groupes se forment et s'affrontent. Certains d'entre eux rallient le Brésil, chacun rapportant sa version des faits.
