Cinq ans après la Seconde Guerre mondiale, un village proche de Toulouse est révolté par l'arrivée d'un Allemand. En plein orage, le curé, Jules Brézanes, a recueilli dans son presbytère ce jeune homme surgi de nulle part à bicyclette. Le lendemain, celui-ci se fait tirer dessus lors d'une promenade.
